Shoe startup opens first store outside of San Francisco

Rothy’s, the San Francisco shoe company that makes women’s staple flats out of recycled plastic, has opened a rare brick-and-mortar store in Washington, D.C. 

The boutique opened in mid-December at 3068 M St. NW in Georgetown, in space previously occupied by Alex + Ani. The sales floor covers approximately 700 square feet. 

The company, whose pointy-toed, ballet-style and loafer flats are ubiquitous on many city streets, has only one other branded store — at 2448 Fillmore St. in San Francisco.
