Texas Senate Bill 505 has been filed, and referred to the Senate Committee on Higher Education. The bill, which carries a price tag proposal of $4 billion in bonds, is geared to assist Texas’ public universities and health-related institutions with various building construction projects.
Some of the proposed projects include:
$200 million for construction of a research building, in conjunction with UT Health Science Center at Houston and the UT M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, also in Houston.
$120 million for construction of a biomedical engineering and science building at Dallas’ UT Southwestern Medical Center.
$126 million for construction of a science and technology research building at University of North Texas in Denton.
The bill was filed by Senator Kel Siliger (R-Amarillo) on Jan. 29, and referred to the committee on Feb. 14.
